Sports Physical Therapy in Riverdale, MD
Built to Send You Back Stronger
A tweak, a strain, or a setback that keeps you off the field has a root cause. We find it and build a one-on-one plan to get you back to your sport—stronger.

Pushing Through a Sports Injury Only Buries the Real Problem
Resting Alone Won't Fix It
Taking a few weeks off might calm a sports injury down, but the symptoms tend to return the moment you go back to full speed—because the underlying cause is still there.
It's Quietly Changing How You Move
Favoring an injury—shortening your stride, guarding a joint, shifting load to the other side—overloads everything around it. Small compensations snowball into bigger problems.
Rushing Back Risks a Bigger Setback
Returning to your sport before the tissue and strength are ready is how minor injuries become major ones. Without objective testing, you're only guessing whether you're truly ready.
Sports Rehab Led by Licensed DPTs
Every sports physical therapy plan at Process PT is built and delivered by a doctor of physical therapy—using objective testing and hands-on care, never a handed-off protocol.

What Brings Athletes In for Sports PT
People come to us when an injury keeps getting in the way of training, competing, or staying in their sport. These are the situations we help with most.
ACL and Knee Injuries - Whether you're rehabbing after surgery or working through a non-surgical knee issue, we build the strength and control you need to return to sport with confidence.
Runner's Knee and Patellofemoral Pain - That ache at the front of the knee that flares with running, jumping, and stairs—and keeps you from the miles or reps you want.
Ankle Sprains and Instability - The rolled ankle that never quite felt right, or repeat sprains that make you hesitant to cut, land, and change direction at full speed.
Hamstring and Groin Strains - Recurring tightness or strains that flare with sprinting, kicking, and lateral movement—and tend to come back the moment you ramp up.
Achilles and Tendon Issues - Stubborn pain and stiffness in the Achilles or other tendons that builds with mileage and loading and won't settle on its own.
Shoulder and Rotator Cuff Pain - Pain or weakness overhead that limits throwing, pressing, and serving—and makes you guard the arm instead of trusting it.
Overuse and Recurring Injuries - The nagging issue that keeps coming back across seasons because the underlying driver was never actually addressed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking about PT for a sports injury? Here's what athletes in Riverdale ask us most.
Do I have to stop playing my sport during treatment?
Usually not. Keeping you active is central to how we work. We learn the demands of your sport, then adjust your training load and exercises so you can keep competing as much as is safely possible while you recover—rather than shutting everything down.
When can I safely return to my sport?
We don't promise timelines, because every athlete and injury is different. Instead of guessing, we use objective return-to-sport testing—strength, power, and movement quality—to confirm you're truly ready. After your assessment, we'll give you a clear picture of what your path back looks like.
Is sports physical therapy covered if I have insurance?
We're a cash-based clinic and don't bill insurance directly. You get a full hour one-on-one with your DPT every visit, and we provide a superbill after each session that you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA and FSA cards.
Do I need a doctor's referral before starting?
In most cases, no. We'll do a full evaluation at your first visit, and if we believe you'd benefit from imaging or a physician's input, we'll let you know and help point you in the right direction. Otherwise, you can typically start right away.
What happens during my first visit?
Your first session is a full hour with your DPT. We assess how you move and load, look at the areas around the injury, and start to pinpoint what's driving your symptoms—so everything from there is built around your body and your sport, not a generic protocol.
