Knee Pain Physical Therapy in Riverdale, MD

Train Hard on Knees You Can Trust

Aching, sharp, or buckling—knee pain that keeps interrupting how you train has a root cause. We find it and build a one-on-one plan to get you back to it.

Training Through Knee Pain Just Teaches Your Body to Compensate

Rest Alone Hasn't Fixed It

Easing off for a few weeks can quiet knee pain down, but it usually returns the moment your mileage or load climbs again—because the cause is still there.

It's Quietly Changing How You Move

Favoring one leg, cutting your range short, or shifting weight off the sore knee overloads the joints around it. Small compensations snowball into bigger problems.

Random Exercises Aren't Targeting It

A few stretches pulled off the internet rarely match what your knee actually needs. Without the real driver, you're guessing—and guessing burns months you could be training.

Common Conditions We Treat

What Brings Athletes In With Knee Pain

People come to us when knee pain keeps getting in the way of training, running, or daily life. These are the situations we help with most.

Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain) - Aching at the front of the knee or around the kneecap that flares with running, stairs, or squatting.

IT Band Syndrome - Sharp pain on the outside of the knee that builds with mileage and won't settle on its own.

Patellar Tendinopathy (Jumper's Knee) - Pain just below the kneecap that shows up with jumping, landing, and heavy leg days.

Meniscus Irritation - Catching, clicking, or a deep ache with twisting and deep flexion that lingers after sessions.

Post-Surgical Knee Rehab - Rebuilding strength, mobility, and confidence after ACL or other knee surgery so you can return to sport.

Knee Pain From Lifting and Squatting - Discomfort under load that limits your depth and the weight you can drive.

Lingering Pain From Old Injuries - Stiffness or recurring knee pain from a past tweak that never fully resolved.

Excellent experience with Dr. Jasmine! I had a mild ACL tear and was in therapy for ~4 months. I received expert care as each session was uniquely tailored to my current symptoms and also geared toward constant improvement and getting back to activity. Each visit was different and some sessions were very challenging as we addressed other strength and mobility issues as well. Overall very satisfied with the care I received here, and will definitely recommend Dr. Jasmine to friends.

When I first injured my knee, I tried a PT practice that tended to me and 2-5 other patients at once. While the specialists I saw were skilled, I didn’t get the assessment or attention I needed to really understand my injury. I concluded my work feeling disappointed and in the dark. When a friend recommended Dr. Jasmine a year later, I had long resigned myself to the notion that my knee would be a barrier to favorite activities forever. I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend out of network dollars on something that wouldn’t ultimately help, or if I would be comfortable working alone with someone. At my partner’s prompting I took the risk, and I’m so glad that I did. From the beginning, Dr. Jasmine was incredibly kind, clear in her communications, and a keen observer of the nuances of my injury. Her initial assessment was next level re time and accuracy. In the work that followed, I got amazing one-on-one guidance, attention to safety, engaging and challenging exercises, good vibes, and great music in each session. My home programs were always clear, customized, and arrived to my inbox in a timely fashion. When it came to talking payment, I always felt Dr. Jasmine made it easy to comprehend what I was getting for my investment. I could not be more happy with my experience. My knee has improved markedly, as has my knowledge base for understanding recovery, pain, and my body generally. Everyone deserves the quality of care Dr. Jasmine provides. Get in on it!

Frequently Asked Questions

Thinking about PT for your knee pain? Here's what athletes in Riverdale ask us most.

Do I need to stop training while we work on my knee pain?

Usually not. Keeping you moving is central to how we work. We learn the demands of your sport, then adjust your load and exercise selection so you can keep training as much as is safely possible while your knee recovers—instead of shutting everything down.

What actually causes knee pain in active adults?

Knee pain usually traces back to how the joint moves and loads—mobility limits, strength gaps, or patterns that overload the area. We use movement assessment and, when it helps, force plate testing and gait analysis to find the real driver instead of guessing, then build your plan around it.

Is knee pain physical therapy covered if I have insurance?

We're a cash-based clinic and don't bill insurance directly. You get a full hour one-on-one with your DPT every visit, and we provide a superbill after each session that you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA and FSA cards.

How soon will I notice a difference?

Every knee is different, so we don't promise timelines. Many patients notice meaningful changes in pain and movement within the first few weeks, and after your initial assessment we'll give you a clear picture of your plan based on how your body responds.

What happens during my first visit?

Your first session is a full hour with your DPT. We assess how your knee moves and loads, look at the hip and ankle above and below it, and start to pinpoint what's driving your symptoms—so everything from there is built around your body, not a generic protocol.
