Hip Pain Physical Therapy in Riverdale, MD
Hip Pain Doesn't Get the Final Say
Nagging, pinching, or sharp—hip pain that keeps interrupting how you train has a root cause. We find it and build a one-on-one plan to get you back to it.

Pushing Through Hip Pain Only Teaches Your Body to Work Around It
Resting Hasn't Made It Go Away
Backing off training for a few weeks might quiet hip pain down, but it tends to return the moment you ramp back up—because the underlying cause is still there.
It's Changing How You Move
Limping, shortening your stride, or shifting weight off the painful side overloads everything around the hip. Small compensations turn into bigger problems over time.
Generic Exercises Aren't Targeting It
A handful of stretches off the internet rarely matches what your hip actually needs. Without knowing the real driver, you're guessing—and guessing wastes months.
Hip Pain Care Led by Licensed DPTs
Every hip pain plan at Process PT is built and delivered by a doctor of physical therapy—using objective testing and hands-on treatment, never a handed-off protocol.

What Brings Athletes In With Hip Pain
People come to us when hip pain keeps getting in the way of training, running, or daily life. These are the situations we help with most.
Deep or Pinching Hip Pain - That catching sensation at the front of the hip when you squat, sit, or drive your knee up—often tied to how the joint is moving.
Hip Impingement (FAI) - Limited depth and a pinch at the front of the hip that shows up in squats, lunges, and running stride.
Labral Irritation - Clicking, catching, or a dull ache deep in the joint that flares with rotation and longer sessions.
Groin and Adductor Pain - Strain or persistent tightness on the inside of the hip that limits cutting, kicking, and lateral movement.
Hamstring and Glute Issues - Recurring tightness or strain at the back of the hip that keeps interrupting sprinting and heavy lifting.
Outer Hip and IT Band Pain - Pain on the side of the hip or down the leg that builds with running mileage and won't settle on its own.
Hip-Driven Low Back Pain - Back pain that traces back to how your hips move—common in lifters, runners, and desk-bound active adults.

Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking about PT for your hip pain? Here's what athletes in Riverdale ask us most.
Do I need to stop training while we work on my hip pain?
Usually not. Keeping you moving is central to how we work. We learn the demands of your sport, then adjust load and exercise selection so you can keep training as much as is safely possible while your hip recovers—rather than shutting everything down.
What actually causes hip pain in active adults?
Hip pain usually traces back to how the joint moves and loads—mobility limits, strength gaps, or patterns that overload the area. We use movement assessment and, when helpful, force plate testing to find the real driver instead of guessing, then build your plan around it.
Is hip pain physical therapy covered if I have insurance?
We're a cash-based clinic and don't bill insurance directly. You get a full hour one-on-one with your DPT every visit, and we provide a superbill after each session that you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA and FSA cards.
How soon will I notice a difference?
Every hip is different, so we don't promise timelines. Many patients notice meaningful changes in pain and movement within the first few weeks, and after your initial assessment we'll give you a clear picture of what your plan looks like based on how your body responds.
What happens during my first visit?
Your first session is a full hour with your DPT. We assess how your hip moves and loads, look at the areas around it, and start to pinpoint what's driving your symptoms—so everything from that point is built around your body, not a generic protocol.
