FAQs
Here are the things athletes and active adults ask us most before getting started.
How do I know which service is right for me?
A good starting point is where you are right now. If you're dealing with pain or recovering from an injury, Physical Therapy is usually the right first step. If you've been cleared but don't feel ready to return to your sport or training, Performance Training is built for that gap. If you train hard and want to recover smarter between sessions, Recovery Services can be added as a standalone or alongside your PT plan. Not sure? Book a free discovery call and we'll point you in the right direction.
Do I need a referral or prescription to get started?
No referral needed. Maryland allows you to start physical therapy without a physician's order, so you can book a discovery call and get the process moving without waiting on a doctor's appointment first.
How does the cash-based model work and is it worth it?
Process PT does not bill insurance directly. You pay per session, and we provide a superbill after every visit so you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement on your own terms. HSA and FSA cards are accepted. When you factor in co-pays, deductibles, and the extra visits that often come with volume-based insurance PT, many patients find the cost difference is smaller than they expected and the quality of care is significantly higher. Every session is one full hour with a DPT, no aides, no rushing.
Will I have to stop training while I'm working with you?
That's not our approach. We'll talk through what activities are still safe for you and build your plan around keeping you as active as possible. Our goal is to keep you moving not put you on the sideline while we address what's actually causing the problem.
What happens on a discovery call?
A discovery call is a free, no-commitment conversation with our team. We'll ask about what you're dealing with, what you've already tried, and what your goals are. From there, we'll let you know whether we're a good fit and what your first visit would look like. There's no pressure and no obligation, it's just a chance to make sure we're the right team for you before you come in.
